Conservation, Sustainable Use and Equitable Shairng of Benefits

IN SITU - PARTICIPATORY CONSERVATION

One of the important features of in situ participatory on-farm conservation promoted by MSSRF is creation of an economic stake in conservation, integration of conservation with village GSGB continuum, involvement of need based participatory plant breeding, identifying appropriate value addition on farmers’ varieties and linking produce and product to the market. Sustainability of such on-farm conservation is linked to cultivation-conservation- consumption-commerce and associated cultural stakes and the way of living of the community concerned. The community knowledge system generated on each genetic resource has profound significance for its effective utilization in breeding.
