M S Swmainathan Reseach foundation is closely working with TCS in the TCS-ALP education programme (Adult Literacy programme) and Village Knowledge Center Portal. This multilingual web portal facilitates fisher folk, farmers and rural families to access demand driven information. These programmes have been implemented especially in Nagapattinam, Chidambaram, Puducherry , Kovalam and other VRC-VKC after Tsunami. Also, being a partner of Grameen Gyan Abhiyan (GGA), TCS supports for organizing Convention and identifying grassroots accademiciens for knowledge revolution. At this juncture, it is imperative to highlight the power of TCS-ALP in rural India through a success story of Ms. Kaveri.
Ms. Kaveri from Killai panchayat came to know that there is a vacancy in the forest office for the position of gardener. As she was an illiterate, they refused to consider her for the position of gardener informing that they expect a person with the minimum qualification of reading and writing in Tamil.
Ms. Kaveri immediately remembered the TCS-ALP Programme that was being run at the Killi VKC, Chidambaram, implemented by MSSRF. She visited the Killai VKC and enrolled herself in the programme. Soon Kaveri was able to read and write and even sign her name in Tamil. Then she once again approached the Forest Office, where she was offered the job that she had been previously denied.

Professor M.S. Swaminathan, father of India's Green Revolution, describes how cell phones and the Internet could launch an "evergreen revolution" -- one that can feed the world's population, in perpetuity, without harming the environment. How? By delivering the right information to the right person at the right time.
Prof. Swaminathan's strategy for reducing hunger around the world relies on knowledge, not chemicals or money. He argues that it also calls for political will, professional skills, and people's participation. Écoutez la conférence en français : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MdQAo6...
