An interest free loan from the Amita&
Bianca Bank was given to this group. They produced okra
(Ladies fingers) hybrid seeds and marketed them initially
in collaboration with the Indo American Hybrid Seed Company.
Now they are marketing on their own to local farmers.
This has become a very good source of income for the group.
The members of this group had undergone training on various
aspects of hybridizing horticultural crops. They have
repaid the loan amount. |

The loan amount has been used for
starting a nursery to produce seedlings for Vanilla, Pepper
and Cardamom. The seedlings of these varieties are in
demand and by selling them, they get additional income
apart from working as plantation labourers in tea-estates.
As some of the group members have migrated to near by
towns, there is a delay in repaying their final installment
of Rs.2000/-. MSSRF is addressing this issue. |
