The members of this group have started
three different types of Enterprises. Viz., Dairy, Tailoring
and Petti-shop. In a small village like Keezavanjore these
enterprises are able to generate sufficient income catering
to the needs of the local population. The enterprise has
provided an income earning opportunity for the group members;
this income will help them in improving their economic
status and in providing their children with better nutritious
food, education and housing. |

The Manikollai Small Farmers Lift-Irrigation
Federation (MSFLF) in Chidambaram project area has started
a Biocentre in the village of Manikollai by taking a loan
of $2000 ($600 from this Bank) They have taken 9.36-acre
land on lease. The land is being developed by the villagers
to showcase models for production of mushrooms, liquid
Bio-fertilizer, vegetable cultivation and fishpond for
income generation. The Farmers Federation is able to generate
income from various activities and at the same time are
able to offer appropriate technologies for other farmers
to start viable enterprises. Because of the support of
the grass root level Farmers association, the marginalized
farmers are they are able to get better price and assured
market. The Federation has fully repaid the loan taken
from this bank. |

| Activity |
The Innuyur Grama sangam consists of 4013 members belonging to 323 SHGs covering 54 villages in Biovillage, Pillayarkuppam, and Pondicherry Union territory. They have proposed to set up a low cost Sanitary Napkin Unit as a new initiative towards empowering the Grama sanga members to organize themselves and venture in to a new business. They will bring Rs. 5,000 as their contribution, Mssrf will provide an interest free loan of Rs.112, 917 (from Dreams do come True Bank bank Rs. 60,000) To expand their economic base and to reach a larger number of SHGs they have opted for this activity. The grama sangam members themselves will undertake the production work at the Unit.
The sustainable norms:
1. Technology Input- Training by Jeyashree Industries, Coimbatore (manufacturer)
2. Market survey- Door to door market survey by SHG members, general stores, near by colleges
3. Credit Input - Provided by MSSRF (30% grant & 70% loan)
4. Management - Five member Management committee to look into the day to day functioning /production at the Unit and continuous monitoring and facilitation support being provided by MSSRF
The SHG women are venturing into a higher scale of operations to enhance their income earning capacity by starting the low cost sanitary napkin unit. The additional income earned through this will help them to strengthen the Innuyur Grama sangham, by providing direct or indirect employment to rural woman and also by providing low cost sanitary napkins to protect the womens health
& hygiene.
