As this area is not suitable for Diary
activity due to scarcity of water and fodder. The group
had started Calf - rearing and breeding. The price of
claves is around $ 80. Moreover, the requirement of feed
and maintenance cost is very less. They send the calves
for grazing in open land. At the appropriate time the
calves will be ready for artificial insemination. Then
they sell the calves for a good price, which is two, or
three times more than the amount invested in buying the
calves. This enterprise had provided an income earning
opportunity for the group members; this income helped
them in improving their economic status and in providing
their children with better nutritious food, education
and housing. |
