this area is not suitable for Diary activity due to scarcity
of water and fodder. The group has started Calf - rearing
and breeding. The price of claves is around $ 80. Moreover,
the requirement of feed and maintenance cost is very less.
They send the calves for grazing in open land. At the
appropriate time the calves will be ready for artificial
insemination. Then they sell the calves for a good price,
which is two, or three times more than the amount invested
in buying the calves. This activity gives them some extra
income. There is a delay in repayment due to the severe
drought condition and monsoon failure during the last
couple of years. |

interest free loan from the bank was given to this group.
They produced okra (Ladies fingers) hybrid seeds and marketed
them initially in collaboration with the Indo American
Hybrid Seed Company. Now they are marketing on their own
to local farmers. This has become a very good source of
income for the group. The members of this group had undergone
training on various aspects of hybridizing horticultural
crops. A small portion of loan is outstanding due to internal
Group conflict, MSSRF is addressing their issue. |
