The Manikollai Small Farmers Lift-Irrigation
Federation (MSFLF) in Chidambaram project area has started
a Biocentre in the village of Manikollai by taking a loan
of $2000 ($600 from this Bank) They have taken 9.36-acre
land on lease. The land is being developed by the villagers
to showcase models for production of mushrooms, liquid
Bio-fertilizer, vegetable cultivation and fishpond for
income generation. The Farmers Association is able to
generate income from various activities and at the same
time are able to offer appropriate technologies for other
farmers to start viable enterprises. Because of the support
of the grass root level Farmers association, the marginalized
farmers are they are able to get better price and assured
market. The Association has started repaying from the
income being generated. |
