 The
members of the group underwent intensive training in making
board and paper from banana waste. Kannivadi is a horticultural
belt and produces 7000 tons of banana every year. The
pseudostems of bananas are thrown away as waste and they
pollute the environment. The group members thought of
converting this waste into wealth and started an industry
for making board and paper. Right from its inception the
unit has been struggling to have continous market for
their product, as their cost of production is higher than
the average cost as they are not able to procure orders
in bulk quantity. MSSRF is addressing this issue by facilitating
in obtaining orders from metropolitin cities and from
other regions. |
