| Dr. Aldas Janaiah is currently working as an Economist with ICAR. He was a Visiting Professor at Indira Gandhi Institute of Development Research (IGIDR), Mumbai (INDIA) from Aug 2002 to Aug 2004 August. Prior to this, he worked as a Project Scientist/Economist at the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), The Philippines, 1999-2002. He was also Visiting Professor at the Vietnam Agricultural Science Institute (VASI), for short period to deliver Lectures on "The Irrigation & Technology Impacts on Rural Livelihood in Vietnam", 20-31 May 2004. |
| Dr Janaiah was also an International Team Leader for the Asian Development Bank-the World Bank-Asian Development Bank Joint Project, "Assessing the Poverty Impacts of Public Irrigation Investments in Viet Nam" (Since October 2002). He is also Member, Experts' Group on African Green Revolution Initiative (AGRI) of The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA), Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (June 2003-June 2005). |
| He has been selected as a Professor at the Council for Social Development-CSD (Southern Regional Centre), Hyderabad, and awaiting for the ICAR's approval to take up this position on lien basis. |
| He obtained his Ph.D. (Agricultural Economics), Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Banarus Hindu University, Varanasi (India), 1995; M.S. (Agricultural Economics), Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University Hyderabad (India), 1989; and B.S. (Agriculture), Acharya N.G. Ranga Agricultural University), Rajendranagar, Hyderabad (India), 1987. |
| His research work over the last 14 years covered a wide range of socio-economic and policy issues related to technology development, adoption and its impacts in South & SE Asia. He has published 29 research articles in refereed journals besides about 50 other papers presented at national and international conferences/seminars. |
| He is Initiator & Convener of the recently concluded South Asia Regional Conference on "Impact of Globalisation of Agriculture in South Asia", held in Hyderabad, India during 23-25 March 2005. |
