| The launch of WWF report on Impact of Climate Change on Global Fisheries was organised by WWF-India (World Wide Fund for Nature - India) in collaboration with M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation and Suganthi Devadason Marine Research Institute on 5th December 2005 at CAPART hall of MSSRF. |
The
programme started with a presentation by Dr.J.K.Patterson
(Driector, Suganthi Devadason Marine Research Institute)
followed by a presentation of Dr.Yugraj
Singh Yadava (Director, Bay of Bengal Programme).
It was followed by the release of WWF report on Impact
of Climate Change on Global Fisheries by Prof.M.S.Swaminathan
(Chairman, M.S.Swaminathan Research Foundation)
Dr.Yugraj Singh Yadava received the first copy of the
report. Prof. M.S.Swaminathan gave presidential remarks
after the release of the report. After a short break
for tea the session resumed with the panel discussion
on "Importance of Fisheries as Livelihood and Nutrients
Source and Possible Impacts of Climate Change".
The moderator for the panel discussion was Dr.Yugraj
Sigh Yadava and the panellists were Dr.H.Mohamad Kasim,
Principal Scientist, CMFRI, Dr.S.Ramachandran, Director,
Institute of Ocean Management, Anna University, Mr.Satish
Babu , SIFFS, Dr.Jacob D.Raj, Executive Secretary, PREPARE.
Many eminent personalities from various fields and media
persons also attended the launch. The programme ended
with the vote of thanks by Mr.J.Mangalaraj Johnson IFS
(retd), Chairman, WWF-India, Tamil Nadu. |
