| |
| Who Are We? |
| |
| 'Friends of MSSRF in Tokyo' is an
international group of people living in Tokyo, Japan,
who understand that globalization is an opportunity
as well as a responsibility. Improving economic conditions
throughout the world brings peace, prosperity, care
of the environment, and general goodwill to our ever-expanding
world community. |
| |
| Inspired by Professor M.S. Swaminathan,
'Friends' was organized to unite the ingenuity and hard
work of the poor in India's villages with the philanthropy
of the Japanese and the international community in Tokyo. |
| |
| The focus has been on: |
| |
- Establishing micro-credit banks, which give financial
support to small businesses.
- Setting up Information Centres using second-hand
computers donated by businesses or individuals.
These Information Centres link the villages with
important data previously unavailable.
|
| |
| The computers and donations are
managed by the MSSRF. Regular reports of the Foundation
show that the enterprises and the income of the villages
have increased through our contributions. . 'Friends'
has also other short-term projects, which are supported
by generous donations from and funds raised by the members. |
