Arnapurna Self-Help Group is located in Kendrapara district in Orissa, one of the poorest states in India. The group has purchased a power tiller by obtaining bank loan of Rs.1,16,130. During the harvest season,the tiller will be of much use to them. They required a loan of Rs.10,000 towards insurance cost, transportation and other miscellaneous expenses.The tiller will benefit Self Help group members as they can use it as well as hire it to others. This will provide an income earning opportunity for the group members; this income will help them in improving their economic status and in providing their children with better nutritious food, education and housing.
