Shiva Sambu Self-Help Group is located in the coastal region of Kendrapara district in Orissa state. The group consisting 18 women members had taken loan for starting Paddy Processing unit in the village. As, there are no such units nearby village and people have to go to next village for processing paddy. The group started the paddy-processing unit in the villages as an enterprise. They have taken loan of Rs. 15000 from community banking. This activity helped the villagers and created employment opportunities among villagers. The group has fully paid the loan amount taken from this bank.

Activity
The Group has undergone formal training in bookbinding and screen-printing. They have procured orders for supply of notebooks from the nearby primary and elementary schools. They buy paper in bulk and stitch quality notebooks. The enterprise had generated employment for 12 members of the group. They are able to earn an average income of $20 (Rs. 1000) per member per month. They intend to expand their market by supplying notebooks to the retail shops in the nearby towns. They are developing their own design for notebook covers through screen-printing. The group is able to repay the loan installment regularly.
