| Food Insecurity Atlas of Rural
India |
| |
| The Food Insecurity Atlas of Rural
India is a unique Book. Food insecurity has been studied
and analysed in this book at the state level, from three
different angles. First is availability of food, which
is a function of production. |
| |
|
| |
| The second is access to food, which
is a function of purchasing power or employment and
earnings. The third is absorption of food into the body,
which is a function of environmental hygiene, primary
healthcare and the quality of drinking water. |
| |
|
| |
| The Atlas has a series of maps,
each map describing the relative food insecure situation
of the state. There are three aggregate maps of food
availability, food access and food absorption and a
final map food insecurity depicting the most food insecure
state that needs immediate attention. The Book also
suggests an action plan to make India hunger free and
food secure. |
