Ensured quality education for the Tsunami orphaned children:
Three Tsunami orphaned children B.Batchibino, S.Resilden
and J.Maria Jothy, who have lost both the parents in
Kanyakumari District got admission in the elite schools
in Nagarkoil. Memorandum Of Understanding (MOU) has
been signed between MSSRF and the District educational
department. The support covers all requirements of the
children educational fee, boarding, lodging, dress,
medical, educational tour organized by the school management
etc. The school management assured that a very flexible
approach would be adopted for the children to meet their
relatives and friends. The programme intents to support
to orphaned children to continue their education till
12th standard. Mr.C.Karmegam, District Educational Officer,
Kanyakumari district appreciating the effort says that
the ` Packages for orphaned children have been done
which is an idea of Prof.M.S.Swaminathan. Social and
Psychological factors cause a big setback in the rehabilitation
process. Packages have to be designed on a case-to-case
basis depending on the needs of the children individually.
Psychological damage has to be set right first before
any other rehabilitation measure could be initiated
and NGOs play a major role in the activities at the
grass root level'. |
