Job Description
The One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) project aims to understand and address the emergence and spread of AMR across human, animal, agricultural, and environmental sectors. It adopts an integrated One Health approach to generate evidence through surveillance, field studies, and laboratory analysis. The project focuses on identifying key drivers of AMR in agri-food systems, including antibiotic usage patterns and environmental pathways. It also assesses knowledge, attitudes, and practices among stakeholders to inform behaviour change strategies. The findings will support policy recommendations and strengthen multisectoral coordination for AMR mitigation. Overall, the project contributes to national priorities and ICMR-led efforts to combat AMR. 
 
  • Coordinate collection, receipt, tracking, storage, and processing of samples from agriculture, livestock, aquaculture, and environmental sources.  
  • Ensure accurate sample labeling, documentation, transport, and strict adherence to chain-of-custody procedures.  
  • Support microbiological testing including culture, bacterial isolation, identification, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AMR).  
  • Assist in molecular and laboratory-based analyses related to AMR surveillance, as applicable.  
  • Maintain laboratory records, testing logs, inventories, and ensure compliance with SOPs and quality standards.  
  • Uphold biosafety, biosecurity, and quality assurance protocols across all laboratory activities.  
  • Manage laboratory databases, ensure accurate data entry, and compile results for reporting and analysis.  
  • Monitor laboratory consumables and equipment; support procurement planning, inventory management, and maintenance. 
  • Assist in preparation of reports, technical documents, presentations, and contribute to research outputs.  
  • Participate in project meetings, training programmes, and support overall laboratory workflows and project deliverables. 
     
Qualification 
Master’s degree in Microbiology / Biotechnology / Life Sciences / Veterinary Sciences / Environmental Sciences or a related field.  (Or) Master Degree in Microbiological, molecular biology, veterinary, environmental, or AMR-related laboratory work. 

Experience  
  • Experience in AMR surveillance or microbiology laboratories.  
  • Experience in bacterial isolation, identification, culture techniques, and antimicrobial susceptibility testing.  
  • Experience handling environmental, livestock, aquaculture, or agricultural samples.  
  • Knowledge of CLSI/EUCAST guidelines.  
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques such as PCR and DNA extraction.  
  • Familiarity with biosafety and laboratory quality assurance procedures.  
  • Experience in laboratory data management and documentation.
