Promotion of Plant Clinics for Safe Vegetable production in   Oddanchatram region of Dindigul (dt.), Tamil Nadu

Project Objectives:

The primary objective is to minimize risk and production cost and maximizes the safety and improved yield among small farmers: and the specific objectives are to

  • Increase the capacity and promote a cadre of men and women farmer’s as plant doctors.
  • Enhance the knowledge of marginal and small farmers in crop management for reducing damages from the impact of pests and diseases through plant clinics.
  • Encourage the marginal and small farmers to adopt good agricultural practices to reduce crop loss, enhance the productivity and double the income.
  • Promote the organic vegetable production among the farmers and market through Farmers producer Organization (FPO) for its sustainability

Expected outcomes:

  • 25 Plant Doctors trained (Male: 10 Female: 15) to provide suitable recommendations to the farmers after proper diagnosis for insect, diseases, nematodes and nutritional disorders.   
  • Established 25 Plant Clinics covering 45 villages.
  • A min. of 5000 farmers accessed plant clinics for getting agro advisories to their affected crop samples, among which 40 %  are women farmers.
