Partnering and committing for safer and sustainable oceans

An informative and engaging webinar on the topic ‘Sea Safety and Sustainable Fisheries Management’ was organised by MSSRF’s Fish for All Research and Training Centre in partnership with Global Fishing Watch on November 27. Key discussion topics included ocean traceability, transparency, and sustainable management of ocean and marine resources.

The speakers Lo Ko-Jung, and Dhiya Sathananthan explained the Global Fishing Watch map and how to access the tools, and shared a few case studies on sea safety and sustainable fisheries. Dr. Velvizhi from MSSRF spoke on the importance of sea safety and sustainable fisheries management.

55 participants from various organisations including the Department of Fisheries, Department of Forest, NGOs, MPEDA-NETFISH, Marine Police, FISHCOPFED, Universities, Kuddle Life Foundation and ICAR-CIBA, were in attendance.
