Tribal Pride Day celebrated in Koraput
Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas or Tribal Pride Day was celebrated on November 25 at Nuaguda village, Koraput district. The event was organised by ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation & RC, Sunabeda, in collaboration with BPTAbC MSSRF to honour the tribal freedom fighter – Birsa Munda, on his birth anniversary. Dr. Kartik Lenka (Scientist, MSSRF) welcomed the chief guest – Dr. P. Raja, Actg. Head, IISWC & RC, Koraput. Dr. Raja stated that the Birsa Munda’s name always stands tall for his role in bringing protection of tribal rights, adding that tribal education is one of the primary agents of transformation towards development. Sh. G. B. Naik, ACTO also marked his gratitude to the tribal people. The tribal community people performed group songs and dances. During programme scientists discussed the preparation and installation of a Bio-input Production Unit. Dr. Kartik Lenka coordinated the programme, and research fellows, project assistants, field assistants, and volunteers participated.
