FFMA User Privacy Policy

Introduction and purpose

The Pan India Fisher Friend Mobile Application (FFMA) is an Android-based application designed to provide easy access to all relevant information related to fishing.

The development, promotion and scaling up of this application is being executed by M S Swaminathan Research Foundation in partnership with Qualcomm under its Wireless Reach Programme. The data provided is sourced from Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS). INCOIS publishes crucial scientific information to the fishers online and serves as FFMA’s Knowledge Partner. FFMA does not represent the government or any government entity and only displays information provided by them on this application.

We have also made available several benevolent schemes and entitlements that fishers can apply to with their respective State Fisheries Departments of India. FFMA has also provided unofficial translations for some of these schemes. FFMA does not play any role in the deployment of these schemes and has only displayed this information for the benefit of the fishers. FFMA does not represent the government or any government entity and only displays publicly available schemes and entitlements.

This application is allowed to be downloaded at free of cost for all the interested users and no person shall charge fee for this.

Service: FFMA provides real time data to fishers in relation to their positioning, weather warnings, potential fishing zones as well as no fishing zones. This information providing, coupled with other features available on the app for the convenience of Fishers are collectively termed as Services.

This page is used to inform users about our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of Personal Information if anyone decided to use our Service.

If any stakeholder chooses to use our Service, they need to agree to the terms and conditions of this policy.

The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at Fisher Friend Mobile Application (FFMA) unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection modes and use

For a better experience, while using our Service, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information during registration, including but not limited to Name, Phone number, occupation, email id, State, District, Current Latitude and Longitude position (“Personal Information”). The information that we request will be retained and used by us only for the purposes as described in this privacy policy.

The Personal Information that is gathered will be used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your Personal Information with anyone except for the purposes as described in this Privacy Policy.

We want to inform you that whenever you use our Service, in a case of an error in the app we collect data and information (through third-party products) on your phone called Log Data. This Log Data may include information such as your device, device name, operating system version, the configuration of the app when utilizing our Service, the time and date of your use of the Service, and other statistics.

We may employ third-party companies and individuals due to the following reasons:

To assist us in analyzing how our Service is used.

We want to inform users of this Service that these third parties have access to your Personal Information. The reason is to perform the tasks assigned to them on our behalf. However, they are obligated not to disclose or use the information for any other purpose than providing the Service.

The app does use third-party services that may collect information to identify the user who has been accessing the application.

Data Security

We value your trust in providing us your Personal Information, thus we are striving to use reasonable commercially acceptable means of protecting it.

Children’s Privacy

These Services do not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. In the case we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we immediately delete this from our servers. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so that we will be able to do necessary actions.

Terms and Conditions

The Application is owned by MSSRF and QUALCOMM, its licensors or its suppliers and protected by copyright laws under Indian jurisdiction. You may not copy the application other than as expressly provided in this License. You may not modify, adapt, alter, translate, or create derivative works from the application. You may use the application only on your mobile phone. This application may use your internet to notify application upgrades, special announcements and other services related information.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Thus, you are advised to review this page periodically for any changes. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. These changes are effective immediately after they are posted on this page.
