Talk: ‘Indian Agriculture: Shortage to Surplus‘

Dr. Himanshu Pathak, Secretary, Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Govt. of India & Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi, delivered the third M S Swaminathan Centenary Lecture on the topic: Indian Agriculture: Shortage to Surplus. He presented the Government of India’s vision for agriculture for the next decades, and spoke of the resources and responsibilities of agriculture for the people. Tracing back to early days of independent India when food security was grim, then the Green Revolution that saved people from starvation, Dr Pathak related the success story of agricultural boom in the country today. He iterated that through the ten thrust areas, agriculture is all set to achieve the Vikas Bharat 2047 vision.
