Atlas of Mangrove Wetlands of Andhra Pradesh Release at Suryalanka in Bapatla
The book on Atlas of Mangrove Wetlands of Andhra Pradesh prepared jointly with the state forest department, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh highlighted the distribution of mangroves in the coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh. The extent of mangrove cover in Andhra Pradesh is 505 sq km as per this assessment. This Atlas also covers the mangrove species zonation, decadal changes in the mangrove cover between 1990 and 2023, shoreline changes between 1990 and 2023 in both Krishna and Godavari mangrove wetlands.
The Mangrove Atlas was released on 11th September in Suryalanka, Bapatla. Sri Kantilal Dande, IAS, Principal Secretary to Govt.,E.F.S.&T Andhra Pradesh released the Atlas of Mangrove wetlands of Andhra Pradesh. Dr.P.V.Chalapathi Rao, IFS Principal Chief Conservator of Forests & Head of Forest Force received the first copy.
