Chennai, October 11, 2018: On the eve of World Food Day, Dr Rajagopal Velamoor will be presenting a lecture on his book ‘Make Hunger Free India’ at MS Swaminathan Research Foundation on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 11.30 AM.
The book deals extensively with issues concerning hunger and food wastage. Its introduction, titled ‘Food is Brahman’ takes a holistic approach to addressing the problem of hunger. The book speaks to policy planners as well as researchers, students, women and the youth alike.
Dr Velamoor is the former director of Central Plantation Crops Research Institute and runs the NGO, Society for Hunger Elimination (SHE) in Tirupati. He had a 35-year career at CPCRI and has won many awards and published several papers.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
