December 20, 2017: This was the time to be jolly! MSSRF celebrated Christmas at the Foundation with carols, sweets, snacks and of course Santa!
Ms Nancy Anabel, Director IEC, MSSRF, gave the Christmas messages for the morning. She spoke of promoting the ‘double PHDs’- peace and prosperity, health and healing, deliverance and dominion. Christmas has been celebrated since the early days of MSSRF as an institution.Christmas is one of the many occasions where all people come together to join in the festivities, Prof M S Swaminathan, Founder MSSRF said. “The tendency to be tolerant is part of Indian culture. The President of the University of Jerusalem has praised India for being the only nation that has not persecuted Jews in its 2000 year history. We are known for our Unity in Diversity. This now seems to be under threat and we should be careful of that”, he added.
The highlight of the function was the arrival of the much-awaited Santa on the scene, and who spread happiness and chocolate with equal fervour. An extra chocolate was given to the staff member who guessed the identity of Santa. Researchers, scientists and all staff of MSSRF participated in this event.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
