Chennai, June 21, 2016: MSSRF celebrated International Yoga Day with a talk by Wing Commander E A Murthy on the topic “Yoga therapy when disease strikes”. Wing Commander quoted many instances from his life during service when yoga cured him of diseases which even doctors had written off as incurable. He spoke of the effectiveness of pranayama practices to cure ailments and to maintain physical and mental health and said only about 20 minutes of practice in a day was required to maintain health.
The talk evoked questions from the audience who were also keen to implement the practices in their daily life.
The talk was followed by a live demonstration of Surya namaskar practice by Mr. Anand from the Admin department.
The seminar had a good participation of students, scientists, research scholars and other staff members. The seminar was organized by the Staff Welfare Committee.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
