TNAU felicitates Professor Swaminathan on receiving 1st World Agriculture Prize
Chennai, November 13, 2018: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Monday, November 12, felicitated Professor MS Swaminathan, Founder Chairman, M S Swaminathan Research Foundation, on having received the 1st World Agriculture Prize.
Professor Swaminathan was honoured at a function hosted by TNAU at Le Royal Meridian Hotel, Chennai. Union Minister for Agriculture Shri Radha Mohan Singh was the chief guest on the occasion.
Thanking Dr K Ramasamy, Vice-Chancellor of TNAU, Professor Swaminathan wrote to him, saying, “I am most grateful to you for the trouble you took to organise the felicitation function yesterday. I am grateful for your remarks. I am proud that both the first World Food Prize and the World Agriculture Prize were received by an alumnus of TNAU. It is a proud privilege for me to be referred to as the product of the Coimbatore Agriculture College. I wish you continued success in taking the University to new heights of achievements.”
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
