Continuing with capacity building initiatives for agriculture extension workers and progressive farmers in Odisha, MSSRF hosted a block-level awareness-cum-training programme on production technologies for pulses under the Comprehensive Rice Fallow Management Programme in Gania Block, Nayagarh District, on September 22.
The aim was to raise awareness among block-level field functionaries, para-extension workers of State Agriculture Department, and progressive farmers, on the importance of pulses for human health and at the same time, introduce production technologies to encourage pulse cultivation in rice fallows. 45 participants including Village Agriculture Workers (VAW), Krushak Sathi, and progressive farmers participated in the training and awareness programme.
At the end of the programme, Gram Panchayat and crop-wise cluster demonstration area were finalised for Rabi 2023-24.
Shri Pradeep Kumar Pattanayak, Gania Block Agriculture Officer and Shri Niladrikant Giri, Gania Block Assistant Agriculture Officer, participated as resource persons. The programme was facilitated by Shri Akshaya Kumar Panda, Development Coordinator, MSSRF, Jeypore, with support from Nayagarh field staff.
