Residential Training on Management of Nutrition Gardens
A two-day residential training on management of nutrition gardens was conducted on October 22nd and 23rd, 2022 under RKVY-NGDD Project in MSSRF Jeypore centre. A total of 45 participants (38 female and 7 male) from 18 villages viz: Minerbali, Banaguda, Udulguda, Dadiapadar, Khangarpar, Gatanguda, Sapaguda, Pandriguda, Colonyguda, Gunduliaguda, M.Kenduguda, Baunsiaguda, Gadaguda, Bhejaguda, Miluguda, B.Majhiguda, B.Kenduguda and Mathapada from Doraguda, Mathapada and Baligaon Gram Panchayats of Boipariguda Block in Koraput district participated in the programme. Akshaya Kumar Panda, Development Coordinator facilitated.
During the training the following points were discussed in participatory mode and group exercise.
Understanding the concept of food and nutrition security
What is food, types of food and what we eat every day
Balance diet and source of nutrients
Importance of vegetables and fruits in daily diet
Types of vegetables and source of vegetables
Integrating nutrition concern in home gardening
Planning for household nutrition security through nutrition gardening – crop calendar, crop rotation etc.
Group work for designing area specific nutrition garden
