Fisher Friend App soon to be available in the northern coastal districts of Kerala
Trivandrum: M S Swaminathan Research Foundation and the Kerala State Fisheries Department signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 30th November, 2018 for the promotion of Fisher Friend Mobile Application (FFMA) among the northern coastal districts of Kerala.
The MoU was exchanged between Dr. Anil Kumar, Executive Director, MSSRF and Director of Fisheries, Kerala Sri Venkatesapathy IAS, at the public relation media hall, South block, Secretariate.The FFMA is prevalent among the fisher folks of the districts of Thiruvananthapuram and Kollam. Kerala State Fisheries Minister of Smt. Mercy Kutty Amma, Industries Minister of Sri E. P. Jayarajan, Sri Duttan, Scientific Advisor, Government of Kerala, Principal Scientist Dr. S.Velvizhi, MSSRF, Additional Director of Fisheries, Kerala, Sri Sahadevan and Joint Director Fisheries (Project) Smitha Nair were present on the ocassion.
The event took place on the ocassion of the first-anniversary remembranceOkhi cyclone. The MoU will help promote the FFMA across the five northern districts of Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
