Andhra Pradesh Minister Dr Palle Raghunatha Reddy visited MSSRF on September 23, 2016. The visit was part of a courtesy call on Prof M S Swaminathan, Founder MSSRF as also to visit the Foundation in Chennai. The minister who holds the portfolios of Information, IT and Communications among others, was also specifically keen to understand the work on ICT at MSSRF especially with regard to the mobile application for fishing communities as well as share some of the integrated real-time information systems software that the Andhra Pradesh Government was developing. The minister took a guided tour of the campus and also expressed interest to scale up the Fisher Friend Mobile Application developed by MSSRF in partnership with Qualcomm and INCOIS across the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
