September 04, 2017: The experience of Hiroshima and Nagasaki has demonstrated the unprecedented loss of life and property which can be caused by a nuclear war is lead to leading scientist like Albert Einstein and Bertrand Russel to promote to Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs. The basic principle enunciated by Einstein and Russel was

“There lies before us, if we choose, continual progress in happiness, knowledge and wisdom. Shall we, instead, choose death, because we cannot forget our quarrels? We appeal, as human beings, to human beings: Remember your humanity, and forget the rest. If you can do so, the way lies open to a new Paradise; if you cannot, there lies before you the risk of universal death.”

It is timely to remind ourselves of the dangers to human civilisation which can result from the nuclear threats. Hence the time has come when we should renew our commitment to the theme Remember your Humanity.

This I hope will be following by all countries particularly North Korea which seem to have a wrong notion about the value of nuclear weapons.
