Drawing attention to marine livelihoods with GIS and RS tools
The Centre for Remote Sensing and Geoinformatics and Indian Society of Remote Sensing (ISRS) – Chennai Chapter, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology in association with National Centre for Coastal Research (NCCR), Pallikaranai, Chennai and Ocean Society of India – Chennai Chapter, co-organised a one-day program on National Remote Sensing Day – August 17, 2022. The theme was ‘Remote Sensing and GIS for Governance’. Dr S Velvizhi, Head of the MSSRF Fish for All Centre at Poompoohar, was invited as a guest speaker on the occasion and presented on ‘Operational Uses of Remote Sensing and GIS for addressing livelihood needs of Marine Fisherfolks’.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
