IARI Library dedicated in the name of Prof M S Swaminathan
April 29, 2016: The library of the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) was today named Prof M S Swaminathan library at a function in Delhi. The library of IARI is a historic space, which is over a hundred years old and reputed to be the largest in South East Asia. The re-naming of the library was suggested at the Foundation Day celebrations of IARI on April 1, 2016. At the dedication ceremony on April 29, in the presence of Prof Swaminathan, Founder Chairman MSSRF and Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, DG, ICAR, the iconic clock tower building that houses the library was unveiled with its new name. Dr Ms Ravinder Kaur, Director and Vice-Chancellor, IARI and Dr R K Jain, Dean and Joint Director IARI spoke on the occasion.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
