Chennai, August 22, 2017: Madras Day reminds us of the unique features of this historic city. The city played an important role in the freedom and social justice movements and was the home of great leaders like C Rajagopalachari, Kamaraj, and Thanthai Periyar. It is also a city of great sportsman, scientists and scholars. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. It has also a Science City to remind us of the role of science in our day to day life. Chennai becomes the musical capital of the world in November – December. Thus, we who are living in the city should be proud of its heritage and try to not only conserve its heritage but also build on it so as to make it the most beloved city of the world.
