Mauritius President to visit MSSRF to deliver Millennium Lecture
The President of the Republic of Mauritius, Her Excellency Mrs. Bibi Ameenah Firdaus Gurib-Fakim, Ph.D., will visit M S Swaminathan Research Foundation Chennai to deliver a Millennium Lecture on the topic “Challenges and Opportunities for Mauritius through the lens of a Changing Climate” on Friday, November 18, 2016. The first woman President of Mauritius, Mrs Fakim is an eminent academician and scientist who has authored and/or co-edited over 28 books, book chapters and scientific articles on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. The Foundation is privileged to host this event.
The Millennium Lecture series of MSSRF has featured several international speakers in the past including Prof Jeffry Sachs (Columbia University), Dr Kanayo Nwanze (IFAD), Dr Pedro Medrano (World Food Programme) and Dr Julia Martin Le-Fevre (IUCN). These lectures have provided an opportunity for audience in Chennai to listen to renowned speakers and discuss subjects of global importance.
The Mauritius President will deliver her lecture at MSSRF from 4 pm to 5 pm to an invited audience of development workers, scientists, students and officials.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
