MSSRF mourns passing away of Dr Geetha Rani, former senior staff member
Chennai, March 7, 2017: Dr Geetha Rani, a long-serving family member of the Foundation, formerly Principal Scientist MSSRF, passed away in Chennai this morning, The MSSRF family was in shock to hear about the sudden demise of the former manager of the Gene Bank of the Foundation. Dr Geetha Rani had been with the Foundation from 1992 to 2016.
Prof Swaminathan in a note to her daughter said “She was a wonderful person in addition to being one of the world’s leading Gene Bank Managers. My wife and I share your sorrow and pray for the peace of the departed soul. My prayers are with you all.”
The scientists and staff at MSSRF will hold a condolence meeting for her on March 08, 2017.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
