MSSRF researcher received the Young Scientist Award
Dr. Deepa Jaganathan, working as Post-Doctoral Fellow (SERB-DST) in MSSRF, recieved the Young Scientist Award at the Indian Plant Science Congress held at SRM University, Kattankulathur, Tamil Nadu (23-25 January 2019). She presented a paper on applying CRISPR-Cas9 technology to edit microRNA genes that negatively regulate salinity tolerance. The paper presented data on the development of transgene free saline tolerant rice varieties using CRISPR-Cas9 approach in the Plant Molecular Biology Laboratory, MSSRF.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
