Global water treatment company WABAG and the M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) are entering in to a Memorandum of Understanding on water technology for agriculture, from 19 Sep 2017. The MoU is for water use efficiency to support farmers of Mailam Block in Villupuram district, Tamil Nadu. S Varadarajan, Director and Chief Growth Officer, WABAG and Dr V Selvam, Executive Director MSSRF are signatories to this agreement in presence of Prof M S Swaminathan. Already, together WABAG and MSSRF supported assured irrigation through rejuvenation of wells for about 160 acres of land in 2015. This agreement will take this partnership further for a series of water-based farming initiatives for another three years for the same district.
M S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF) established in 1988 is a not-for-profit trust. MSSRF was envisioned and founded by Professor M S Swaminathan, agriculture scientist with proceeds from the First World Food Prize that he received in 1987.
