The Chandrayaan 2 mission by the Indian Space Research Organization ISRO, was closely followed by the scientific community and people across the globe. Prof Swaminathan, wrote to the Prime Minister of India as well as to the Chairperson of ISRO expressing his gratitude and warmth for the mission in particular and the boost to science and scientists in general.
To the Prime Minister: “As an Indian scientist, I have no words to express my sincere gratitude to you for the remarkable way you encouraged our scientists in general and space scientists in particular today. Your words of encouragement and wisdom would stimulate all Indian scientists to give their best to the nation. It is our good fortune that we have a Prime Minister who can help everyone in the country to give his/her best to take the country forward in every field of human activity. I am glad you stressed that both success and failure provide lessons which can help to take us forward.”
