November 4, 2017: For a long time there has been a mismatch between production and post-harvest technologies, with a result that neither our farmers nor our consumers derive full benefit from enhanced production. Fortunately this gap is being overcome as it is clear from the exhibits at the World Food India 2017. Commercialization has become a good instrument of conservation. What is now important is for those taking advantage of the food security act should prefer the millet option under their entitlements. Also, at the global level soon an International Year of Millets and Underutilized Crops should be declared by the UN.
